Spawned from a great post over at Steady Shot, here is my Warlock A-Z rundown!
A is for Affliction, one of the three available talent trees. Affliction focuses on increasing the power and effectiveness of your DoTs, Curses and drain abilities.
B is for The Black Book, a Warlock-only class trinket dropped from Razorgore in Blackwing Lair. This used to be a saucy PVP trinket for Demonology Warlocks in vanilla-WoW with its stellar push-to-use feature, increasing pet damage and armor by 100% for 30 seconds. Still a nice trinket for Demonology to this day.
C is for Corruption & Chaos Bolt. Corruption is a staple spell for almost any Warlock, dealing Shadow-based damage over a certain amount of time. Chaos Bolt is the 51-point Destruction talent, causing fire damage with 0% chance to miss.
D is for Dreadmist Raiment, the original Dungeon 1 set back in vanilla WoW. Due to poor pre-BC itemization, most ‘locks avoided this set like the plague for its mass amount of spirit and poor set bonuses. That doesn’t stop it from looking cool, though!
E is for Eye of Kilrogg, a semi-useless spell that summons a controllable eye that is used for scouting out zones. When glyphed, the eye can fly in zones that flying is allowed, which comes in handy for scouting named or rare spawns.
F is for Felhunter & Felguard, two of the Warlock’s pets. The Felhunter is the anti-caster pet obtained through a quest chain at level 30. The Felhunter used to primarily be a PVP pet but with the recent addition of Fel Intellegence to it’s arsenal, its now a staple PVE pet for Affliction Warlocks. The Felguard is the 41-point Demonology-only pet that acts like a pocket Arms Warrior. This is the Demonology pet of choice for its excellent DPS and the ability to take a beating.
G is for Graveyard, which is where you find yourself often when you face off against Death Knights, Rogues, Ret Paladins or pretty much anything but a Shadow Preist and Mage in PVP right now. It can also be for Gul’dan, the super BAMF Orc Warlock from WoW lore whose skull talks to Illidan.
H is for Haunt, the 51-point Affliction talent. This spell deals direct Shadow damage and debuffs the target to increase the damage it receives by your DoTs. When the duration is over, or the target dies, the Warlock is healed for the initial damage delt.
I is for Incinerate & Imp. Incinerate was introduced to Warlocks in TBC as a spammable fire-based nuke that has its damage increased while the target is effected by Immolate. With the change to Emberstorm in a later patch, a fire-based Destruction spec with enough spell haste proved to be a contender for a top-DPS spec. The Imp is the first pet obtained by the Warlock from a quest at level 1. Back in vanilla-WoW & TBC, he was nothing more than a mana battery for Affliction Warlocks via Dark Pact. For fire-based Destruction Warlocks he was often sacrificed via Demonic Sacrifice for his increase to fire spell damage but with the new Destruction talents in WOTLK, he is now the pet of choice for deep Destruction Warlocks.
J is for Jewel of Infinite Possibilities, an off-hand item dropped by Shade of Aran in Karazhan. I used this offhand for quite some time due to its passive spell hit bonus and its boost to stamina and spellpower.
K is for Karaborian Talisman, a pretty saucy off-hand that drops from Magtheridon. (I didn’t want to use a random piece of caster gear here but I was really stumped on a K Warlock item.) K is now for Killing ‘em Slowly & K from More Dots! More Dots! Go read their Warlock blogs nao! (Thanks for the idea, Fulg =P)
L is for Life Tap, a spell that allows the Warlock damage themselves in return for mana. The Warlock motto used to be “my health is my mana” for a reason.
M is for Metamorphosis, the 51-point Demonology talent. This spell allows the Warlock to transform in to a demon for 30 seconds, granting increased damage output, increased armor and increased melee resilience. The Warlock also gains access to Demon Form-only spells that are quite situational but not quite useless if used correctly.
N is for Nemesis Raiment & Necrosis. The Nemesis Raiment is the Tier 2 Warlock armor set. Pieces for this set can be obtained in Blackwing Lair, Onyxia and Molten Core. Necrosis is a Warlock add-on that makes “warlocking” (now I’m making up words like Fulguralis) 100% easier. Giving you a single button to count your shards, act as a Life Tap/Dark Pact/Metamorphosis button, organizes your curses, buffs and summon spells and also has vocal warnings when mobs or players are immune to Fear or when Nightfall/Backlash procs. Very handy addon for any Warlock.
O is for Orb of the Soul Eater, an easy to obtain epic offhand from TBC that was a staple to many raiding Warlocks just starting off in the T4 raid content.
P is for Plagueheart Raiment, the old Tier 3 and new Tier 7 armor set. With the old T3 being removed with the redesign of Naxxramas, the set was redone to become the T7 set in the new Naxx raid in WOTLK.
Q is for Questing, something Warlocks are bested at only by Hunters. With little to no down time and the ability to kill multiple mobs at once, leveling a Warlock through constant questing is the fastest way.
R is for Ruin, a 5-point 3rd tier Destruction talent that increases the Warlocks critical strike damage by 100%. Before 3.0, Ruin was the 21-point Destruction talent and was only 1 point.
S is for Soul Link & Succubus. Soul Link is the 11-point Demonology talent that spreads damage received by the Warlock to their summoned pet. This was previously the 31-point talent and used to increase the Warlocks damage output. The Succubus is a pet obtained by a level 20 Warlock quest. Acting as a low-armor-high-dps pet, she was nothing more than a shadow damage boost via Demonic Sacrifice in TBC with the death of “Seduce Nuking” in PVP.
T is for Torment, the Voidwalker’s “taunt” spell. This is what keeps things punching him in the face instead of chasing you around like a schoolgirl.
U is for Unstable Affliction, the 41-point Affliction talent. This spell deals shadow damage over time and will silence and deal damage to anyone that dispels it.
V is for Voidwalker & Void Star Talisman. The Voidwalker is a pet obtained through a level 10 Warlock quest and acts as a tank. It is best used while solo-questing at early levels. The Void Star Talisman is a Warlock-only class trinket obtained from Solarian in Tempest Keep: The Eye. This trinket was pretty much mandatory for deep Demonology raiding, along with having 2 pieces of T5 for the pet heal set bonus, for its ability to greatly increase your pets magic resistances by 150 and keep them alive. Its passive 48 spellpower bonus was nothing to scoff at either.

X is for Xi’ri’s Gift, a caster trinket obtained by reaching revered status with the Sha’tar. A staple starter trinket for most 70 Warlocks back in TBC.
Y is for Yelling, which we do a lot of when we get stunlocked by Rogues in PVP. Good times!
Z is for Zhar’doom, Greatstaff of the Devourer, a very saucy staff that drops from Illidan Stormrage in Black Temple. Not only are the stats perfect for a Warlock (stam, int, crit, spellpower), its a Felhunter on a stick!
