First off, grats to Fulguralis and Fuu over at Killing ‘em Slowly who recently set their wedding date for July 18th. “Couples that slay together stay together” has been said over and over again but I believe it to be true.
Last night was Retro Raid Night over at Vae Victus so we 5-manned Molten Core and headed over to Onyxia for a quick 26 gold each (133g divided amongst the raid). No one in the raid had the water to douse the runes so we had to stop at Majordomo & Ragnaros. After the patch though.. those bastards are gonna get it (albeit it from a group of overgeared 80′s).
I managed to snag my T1 robe & gloves, my wife picked up her T1 banana shoulders and pants, Keiraline picked up her T1 shoulders and belt and Oticus/Lennore/Gelen/Chad picked up his T1 shoulders and boots. We all love to collect gear for the most part so it’s good to know that we can 5-man the old 40-man raids. We’re gonna hold off going back in to MC until the patch hits so we can kill Domo and Rag – we mainly just wanted to see how easy it was for 5 people.
The goal for our RRN was to keep people in the raiding spirit but to go back and do raids that some people never got the chance to run. Since we play on an RP server, looking awesome is part of the fun so it’s also to collect some Tier pieces. It’s nice to go back to ZG or AQ and think about how friggin hard those places used to be at 60 and then demolish them with 5 people. Our RRN is totally optional so we normally only get 5 or 6 people that want to go but it’s still always a good time.
During our other off-nights, I try not to enforce anyone to stay active since we’re a casual guild. Trying to force people in to farming heroics or running dungeons can sometimes burn them out so we’re normally off doing dailies, working on professions or (my favorite) working on alts. If someone is a little behind in gear I might hint at running something but for the most part it’s pretty laid back 4 or 5 nights per week.
What does your guild do during off nights to keep things interesting?
Once the patch comes out and you can make a DK on any server, there are talks of having a “Death Knight’s Death Night” once per week on another realm where we all make DK’s and stir some trouble in Alliance towns. Sounds like it could be fun.
