After commenting on The Stoppable Force’s latest post about bad loot mojo, I mentioned that the new year better bring better loot mojo – and it did! Well, for me at least =X. Sorry Stop.
I feel like all I did today was farm mats for craftables and run heroics. Next to the name of the item is the pre-Naxx in-slot ranking from Shadowpriest.com and the instance they dropped from.
Crown of Unbridled Magic – #2 (#1 is the crafted engineering goggles). Heroic Oculus.
Drakewing Raiments – #2. Heroic Oculus.
Slithering Slippers – #4. I already have Cleric’s Linen Shoes which are ranked #2 so these were more of a sidegrade as I don’t see how they consider something with crit worth less than something with haste. Heroic Gundrak. The Cleric’s are from Heroic Nexus.
Wand of the San’layn – #4. Heroic Utgarde Keep.
Ancestral Sinew Wristguards – #3. Revered Wyrmrest Accord.
Titansteel Guardian – #1. Crafted.
Deathchill Cloak – #1. Crafted.
Sundial of the Exiled – #1. Emblems of Heroism.
Plush Sash of Guzbah – #2. #1 if socketed and with a belt bucklet which mine is so #1. Emblems of Heroism.
I couldn’t believe how easy the Deathchill Cloak was to make. The only hard part was the Sirens Tear which I sucked it up and paid 120g for one instead of farming 100 Winterfin Clams.
I’m up to 1845 Spellpower self buffed (Inner Fire) and about 14% crit. I was up to 15.6% but it dropped a little once I swapped some gear around.
I’m not too happy with the proc rate from the sundial. As a Shadowpriest, we use a ton of spells but I’d say it procs maybe 1 in 15-20 casts. The crit bonus is nice but I barely even notice it proccing at all.
I’m still after the epic drops in heroics but I’ll take some ILVL 200 upgrades in the mean time ^_^.

Yay, phat lootz! I absolutely, positively HATE Oculus, so I’ve done it maybe three times on regular and a whopping zero times on Heroic, but maybe I need to bite the bullet and help my fellow guildies go through there and get some upgrades (that Cowl is really #2? Can’t check it here at work, but I’m currently sporting the Cowl of Innocent Delight that drops from Loatheb in Naxx 25 – can’t bring myself to change that out … unless it’s an upgrade, hehe.)
I’ve been taking the easy route and farming rep to buy epics from various factions — for example, instead of spending 40 emblems on that Plush Sash, I got to exalted with Ebon Blade and bought the Belt of Dark Mending. I guess I’ll need to get off my lazy butt and start doing some comparing.
And I agree about the Titansteel Guardian – even with the nerf, that baby is still going to be killer, especially paired with a nice offhand. The one that drops from Heroic Nexus (Telestra’s Journal) has +hit on it and is quite nice. I’m going after the epic mace from there, since I’m too cheap to buy all the mats for the Guardian.
It’s really a healer mace, but shadowpriest.com ranks it rather high when paired with the offhand that I happen to be sporting, and an upgrade is an upgrade (I’ve put that shiny Damnation staff aside for my healing set — with the new offhand paired with my Kirin Tor dagger, my DPS-important stats are actually higher.) I’ve never seen the inside of the Frostwyrm Wing, but I’m hoping to get my hands on that Torch of whatever that drops from KT.
And sorry about that trinket! I do find that it procs a good bit, maybe I’m just not paying attention, though, to how many casts it takes (my haste is decent, so I guess the number of spells in a short amount of time is a good number). There’s a trinket that drops in 25-man Obsidian Sanctum (dropped for us yesterday, but I lost the roll, hehe) that stacks spellpower up to 10 times or something …. it’s NIIICCEEE. That’ll replace my Egg of Mortal Essence, for sure, when I’m doing my shadow thing.
Anyway, good to hear that you got some upgrades!
@ D – My list from SP.com is pre-naxx gear, not counting actual raid gear. I’m trying to maximize what I can outside of Naxx to make clearing Naxx much easier lol.
Titansteel is ranked so high because SP.com ranks spellpower as the #1 stat after +hit and then it’s +crit. It has a ton of both. I’m using the badge offhand with it.
I really have no chance in doing Naxx-25 since our guild is a 10-man guild. The server PuGs archavon a lot but not really Naxx-25. Thats the downfall of small servers lol. Sometimes I wished I had stayed on Silvermoon for the better raid opportunities but I like my Horde toons too much =\.
